I looked into the Mirror
Staring back at me, this weak Figure.
Those weary eyes, the messy Hair,
I backed away with a Scare.
What has become of that zesty Girl,
She was once the ocean’s Pearl.
Brimming with energy, she would do every Job,
A glitter in her veins, she was never a Snob.
She loved to dressup, she loved to look Pretty,
She loved spending money, she loved to be Free.
Every penny she earned, she made sure she Spent,
Little did she know, that one day she would Repent.
Suddenly one day, sickness came by the Way,
And turned her life from gay to Grey.
When it rains, it pours, that’s a famous Quote,
Those who envied her earlier, sat to Gloat.
Friends who she had loved and helped and Cared,
Watched her struggle with odds and end up Despaired.
No one came forward to hold her Hand,
From the joy of her life, she was Banned.
Depression set in, with its ugly Head,
It creeped into her blood and slowly Spread,
The sparkling bubbles had somehow turned Bland,
Her life had no meaning, she could not Understand.
Her long silky hair, now lay bundled in a Heap,
Her colorless life would make her Weep.
She stopped dressing up, she stopped meeting People,
Nothing seemed to make her Spark, once again Kindle.
She found everything dull and Dark,
She tried everything to get back her Spark.
Earlier she had enjoyed her very Work,
Now everything she did, was a distasteful Murk.
She had always given freely her care and Time,
She had helped one and all, when her youth was Prime.
Now suddenly growing older meant that she was Useless,
What about her crowns of glory, were they all Forgotten?
Times had suddenly changed so cruel, since When?
Where were those smiles on people’s Faces?
There seemed to be only fear in all Spaces.
What did she do wrong, to receive such Plight,
Why Kindness and Caring was no longer, considered Right?
